Foods that help reduce high blood pressure – My experience
In the modern society, the use of medication to solve a health problem is very common. The alternative of medication is addressing the problem through diet.
The foods that help reduce high blood pressure are many, and I will share with you my experience and results in solving it.
No matter how well we care for our body while respecting the rules of a healthy lifestyle, we cannot separate physical health from the mental state.
Stress occurs when strong negative environmental factors act on us and have a very important role to signal that we are in a risky situation.
Although medicine has not yet shown a precise correlation between long and intense stress and blood pressure problems, there are two possible causes:
- constant exposure to stress-relieved chemicals and the body’s physical responses to blood circulation
- the tendencies of self-destructive behavior that we have under stress: alcohol and tobacco consumption, excessive eating, sleep problems, neglect of physical exercise, etc.
Symptoms that indicate blood pressure
- numbness of hands
In the next paragraphs, I will share you my experience with high blood pressure and what I have done to lower the levels.
Last year, I was visiting my doctor so often complaining about tiredness, loss of interest in everything I did and gaining weight. I have done the routine checkups: blood samples analysis and blood pressure measure.
Each time the blood pressure was high (160/111 mm/Hg, 180/120 mm/Hg), blood samples analysis were good, except the cholesterol which is the indicator for high blood pressure.
I have done these visits and checkups for almost six months and the last diagnostic: high blood pressure and medication for whole life.
Together with the doctor, we decided on a final test: the 24 hours device to measure the blood pressure.
I got scared, really scared. From the very beginning, I refuse the medication, and I was asking myself: is there any natural remedy for this? Any foods to solve it? I started documenting myself about the subject.
I advocate for natural medication and the power of the foods. After reading from many resources and books, I’ve decided to solve it, but in a healthy manner.
I completely cut the salt, sugar and replace the bad carbs with good carbs. During the two months till the device installation, I’ve tried lots of foods to reduce the high blood pressure.
The day X arrived, the device was installed, and the next day I got the news: my blood pressure was 128/80 mm/Hg, and I’ve lost 4 kg.
I was so happy, jumping for joy and I thanked the power of natural food.
The persons with high blood pressure should give more attention to our diet and try to solve this health issue using natural remedies.
There are many foods with a proven result in lowering and adjusting of the high blood pressure without any side effects. It only requires a bit of perseverance.
I will start with my absolute favorite remedy: the fresh pressed juice.
The juices have many more benefits than lowering the high blood pressure: lower the cholesterol, fighting fatigue, increase body immunity and energy, prevent cancer and chronic diseases.
Vegetable juice – to reduce the blood pressure
- Celery juice – the celery is a real fighter against blood pressure. It contains active substances that naturally relax the muscles inside and around the arterial walls. The celery reduces the sugar level in blood and improves the cardiovascular system by lowering the stress hormone.
- Beetroot juice – it’s a real source of nitrates that are transformed through digestion in nitrites and are absorbed in the stomach. To reduce the blood pressure is enough to drink daily 200 ml of beetroot combine with carrot juice
One of my daily juice contains beetroot, carrot, lemon and parsley leaves.
Alkalizing your body
Alkalinity is important for our health and protects us against cancerous diseases. Cells in our body need an alkaline environment to be healthy.
Consuming alkaline foods has become even more important today as our diet is increasingly composed of processed foods, refined and additives.
Our current diet is deficient in potassium, magnesium, and fiber. Alkaline proponents recommend increasing the consumption of greens, walnuts, and seeds.
We have a lot of greens, vegetables, and fruits from which we can prepare healthy salads daily or juices.
Plants and foods for good blood pressure
Garlic is the first plant that science recognizes as effective in treating cardiovascular diseases.
Ginger root strengthens blood circulation and relaxes muscles around blood vessels.
Chocolate, cocoa, cocoa butter – cocoa powder is very rich in antioxidant compounds and has proven effective in preventing cardiovascular disease. Daily consumption of dark chocolate with high cocoa content lowers blood pressure. So, ladies, we are in heaven!
Consumed daily wheat bran, basil, tomatoes, onions, flaxseeds, cinnamon. Use the good cinnamon – cinnamon verum.
Another good and allowed foods: avocado, leek, horseradish, green beans, olives oil, fish oil, graham bread, rye bread, vegetable soups, nuts (almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds)
Avoid the following foods
- The food with rich high salt
The reduction of sodium is very important. Avoid food rich in salt, so if you like pickles as I do, say them goodbye. Also, bacon and meat products, noodles, semi-prepared food, instant soups, can food are high in salt.
- The food rich in fat
Fat affects both the heart and the blood vessels. Eating fatty foods can worsen the situation.
- Alcoholic beverages
Although it contains neither fat nor salt, alcohol is contraindicated to those who have problems with blood pressure.
- Refined sugar
Refined sugar increases blood pressure, especially in overweight people. Most of the excess amount of sugar enters the body, it gets stored in fat, resulting in weight gain and risk of cardiovascular diseases.
- Fried foods
Include daily in your meals: freshly pressed juice, bananas, celery, lemon, cinnamon, garlic, onions, good carbs, flaxseeds, chia seeds, cocoa, exercise.
Quit smoking and alcohol, avoid stress, reduce weight. Walk daily at least 30 minutes, start practicing yoga and meditation.
I’ve applied and still do till the present day all the do’s and don’t mention above. I lost weight and keep continue loosing, I feel good in my skin, and again I prove myself the power of nature.
Use the plants which were given to us.

I found this post very valuable.
Personally, I actually have low blood pressure. However, my mom has always struggled with the high blood pressure. And it took me a while to justify to her that the diet changes could help her with that rather than drinking all that medications.
Anyways, now I have a real personal example for her to read and hopefully make a change.
I also support a healthy lifestyle and for my mom it always looks like I am starving myself and my family to death 😀 I really hope that I will be able to convince her to at least trying to reduce certain staff she is eating and see if that will convince her!
Thank you for your post!
I’m glad that I can contribute to others health. I hope your mother will try these simple and efficient remedies.
I know what you mean with “starving to death”; same here 🙂
Glad to help!
Hey Dany! Wow, how good for you that you were able to improve your health that much. Thanks for sharing your experience and telling this very personal story! I love this very “actionable” approach that enables me to basically “copy” what you did. Awesome, I’ll definitely five it a try!!!
At the end of your post, you mentioned meditation. I tried quite a few methods, but none of them really worked for me. Do you have any suggestions for me here? What technique did you have the most success with?
All the best,
Thank you for your comment. Like all the new beginnings, it’s hard but with persistence you get the results.
When it’s about meditation, I am not a pro and I follow some meditation for beginners youtube channels. I alternate them. I noticed that I get relaxed and this is the idea in the end. 🙂
Pass by with a comment and let me know about your results with your blood pressure experience.

I am sure this is going to help a lot of people, me included.
Hi Jill and thank you for your comment.
I’m glad that I can help and inspire others. It was a long research and I was lucking to find good resources with great info.
I do hope this will help others.
You are very welcome 🙂
I agree with you Dany, I’m all with natural remedies and food too. I have never depended on medicines when I’m not feeling well, only paracetamol but very seldom, usually I just sleep and drink extra water. My mom has high blood pressure, she’s got medication and she said she’s feeling better. But I’d rather that she opts for a more natural way and more on meditation and exercise. I’ll share this post with her, maybe she’ll listen. Thank you for this.
Thank you for your comment, dear. Same here, I avoid pills because of their side effects. If you check the medication list you will surprised about the side effects. I use natural remedies since I was a teenager and they never failed me.
I hope our mom will like the post and remedies.
Let me know about her progress.
You are very welcome.
I recently quit smoking 2 months ago and it was the best thing I could have ever done, looking back on it I don’t know why I ever started. Since I quit, my life has just been getting better and I’ve stopped getting strong headaches which I think was because of high blood pressure. Thanks for this post You just reinforced my willpower to never smoke again. Keep up the good work.
I’m glad that you found the power to quick smoking. I think it was a wise decision.
Most probably you have had the strong headaches from smoking, I cannot say as I never smoked 🙂 Have you tried to do a check up of your blood pressure?
Glad to help!
